What is the Grand Canyon Skywalk?
The Skywalk is a horseshoe-shaped bridge with a glass floor at Eagle Point on the West Rim. It opened in 2007, extends about 70 feet (21 m) beyond the canyon wall and stands roughly 4,000 feet (1,200 m) above the Colorado River. It is owned and operated by the Hualapai Tribe as part of Grand Canyon West, outside Grand Canyon National Park.
Skywalk rules and photos
- Phones, cameras, bags and loose items are not allowed on the bridge. Free lockers are provided.
- You wear protective shoe covers over your shoes on the glass.
- Staff photographers take photos on the bridge, sold separately.
- The views from the free Eagle Point and Guano Point viewpoints can be photographed with your own camera.
How to visit the Skywalk from Las Vegas
The Skywalk is sold as an add-on to the Grand Canyon West admission package. The easiest option is a tour that already includes it, like our West Rim Coach Tour with Skywalk. If you are short on time, a helicopter tour reaches the West Rim in under an hour, with the Skywalk as an option.
Is the Skywalk worth it?
If standing on glass above the canyon is on your bucket list, yes. If you mainly want your own photos, the free viewpoints are just as dramatic, and you can save the Skywalk fee.
